In the early 1980s, a group of golfers known as the “Chirpers” gathered regularly at Quail Valley Country Club. What began as friendly rounds on the course soon grew into lasting camaraderie. The group started meeting for breakfast, where conversations naturally turned toward how they could give back to their community. This shared commitment to service led to the creation of the St. Patrick’s Day Golf Tournament. Around that same time, the group’s first president, Norman Jones, connected with a friend who was serving as president of the Memorial Exchange Club. Seeing that the Chirpers were already embodying the spirit and mission of an Exchange Club, he encouraged them to formally organize as one. On March 1, 1985, the group was officially chartered as the Exchange Club of Quail Valley with 50 charter members. In 2015, the club proudly adopted its current name, the Exchange Club of Missouri City. Over the past 40 years, the Exchange Club of Missouri City has raised millions of dollars in support of local charities and youth education. In 2025 alone, the club awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships and donated over $70,000 to local charitable organizations—continuing a legacy of service that began on the fairways decades ago. |
